Health systems to blame for Charlotte Maxeke baby deaths

audio A gastro-intestinal infection killed six babies at the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital in May, according to findings of an investigation launched into the tragedy. The investigation also found that health care staff did all they could to save the babies. Hospital systems, however, were found to be lacking.

Health-e is pleased to announce the launch of a website dedicated to cancer and tobacco control. The website is linked to the Health-e news site and includes tales of survival, news on science and research and the latest developments on the cancer and tobacco control front. The focus will be on cancer in Africa where the death rate from cancer is extremely high and tobacco use is increasing. The website is made possible through the support of the American Cancer Society.
